Many photographers focus on the bride's jewellery as one of the most important details of her wedding day. While I certainly photograph the necklace, bracelet and earrings on a table, I was inspired by one of the best wedding photographers in the world, Jerry Ghionis, who said to capture details with a heartbeat. For this reason, I also try to photograph the bride interacting with the jewellery in some way -- whether putting it on, adjusting it, admiring it, or otherwise engaging with it.
To me, it is just a necklace or a bracelet. To the bride, however, it may be her grandmother's antique locket, her mother's birthstone, or the necklace her best friend bought as an engagement gift. The emotion behind these items must be captured in order for the image to have any personal significance.
